Our History
Split Rock was established in 1998. We have offices in Silicon Valley and Alexandria, Virginia. We started out as an alternative to the traditional PR agency, and we’re still going strong. For years, companies in all industries have been frustrated by agencies that assign inexperienced staffers to handle their clients' day-to-day account work. Too many agencies are more concerned about milking a few more billable hours out of their clients than about doing what's in their clients' best interests.
Split Rock is different.
Our entire staff is composed of senior, experienced practitioners. Our clients aren’t paying for someone to get on-the-job training. More importantly, we are obsessed with delivering results. That’s why we’ve enjoyed long, mutually beneficial relationships with so many clients. We have clients today who have been with us for over eight years. That doesn’t happen by accident. It takes dedication and a commitment to excellence.
Management Team
Jeffrey Scott founded Split Rock. He continues to oversee day-to-day operations and he is actively involved in nearly all client relationships. Prior to starting Split Rock, Jeff managed two multi-million-dollar accounts at Cunningham Communication -- HP and KPMG Consulting. Over the years, he has worked with dozens of clients, including Adobe, BEA Systems, First American Corp., Sun Microsystems and Texas Instruments. Prior to entering the agency world, his work experience included corporate marketing, project management at Stanford University, and a stint as a staff researcher for the San Jose Mercury News.
Chad Wandler runs our East Coast operations. Chad led the Split Rock team that helped launch Verified by Visa, one of the most significant consumer-protection campaigns in the history of the Internet. His other clients have included the Bentley Systems, First American Corp., OPNET Technologies, and TechSmith Corp. Prior to joining Split Rock in 2000, Chad worked at Walk-the-Talk Productions where he helped organize the National AIDS Marathon Training Program that raised millions of dollars for the Whitman-Walker Clinic and AIDS Project Los Angeles. Chad previously served as deputy press secretary to U.S. Senator Max Baucus.
Alisa MacDonnell heads up media relations for Split Rock. Alisa has a long and impressive track record of creating and executing PR campaigns that deliver tremendous results. She has secured exposure for clients via CNN, Good Morning America, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Today Show, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and countless other media outlets. Prior to joining Split Rock in 2006, she worked for Greenpeace. Earlier in her career, she worked on the agency side with clients such as Auto Trader, Crystal Geyser, Revo, Sega of America, and The Learning Company. Alisa began her career as a producer for the syndicated TV show Extra.
Tatiana Getty is our senior writer and editor. Tatiana joined Split Rock from Tippit, a startup media company in San Francisco. There she edited, wrote and maintained nine of the company's Web sites, focusing on B2B technologies, Internet security, and wireless communication. Prior to her time at Tippit, she worked as a sports writer for Silicon Valley Newspapers. Previously, she was a contributing writer for several publications, including The Wave Magazine, SoulMag, and Access Magazine.
